The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) launched the READI-Home: Reducing Readmissions through Device Innovation for the Home Innovation Challenge to accelerate development of medical device technologies designed for use in home settings after hospital discharge. The initiative, part of the FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) Home as a Health Care Hub Initiative, seeks innovative solutions that help patients and caregivers manage health conditions, improve recovery, and prevent avoidable hospital readmissions. Selected innovators may receive early engagement with FDA experts through an interaction phase focused on refining device design, testing strategies, and regulatory pathways, with the FDA anticipating selecting up to nine devices to advance.
