Johnson & Johnson announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted De Novo market authorization for its OTTAVA™ Robotic Surgical System, the world's first table-integrated soft tissue robotic surgery platform. The system is authorized for multiple upper abdominal general surgery procedures, including gastric bypass, cholecystectomy, gastrectomy, appendectomy, and hiatal hernia repair, and is designed to improve operating room efficiency through its integrated architecture and smaller footprint. Johnson & Johnson plans to begin a phased U.S. commercial launch with select hospitals while continuing to expand the platform into additional surgical indications and international markets.
