Lyda Hill Philanthropies and the Texas Academy of Medicine, Engineering, Science and Technology (TAMEST) awarded $1 million in additional research grants to six Texas researchers whose projects were not selected for the 2026 Hill Prizes. Three recipients are from UT Southwestern, including J. William Harbour, who received $200,000 for AI-guided early cancer detection, while other projects focus on non-hormonal contraception, antiviral therapies, cancer survivorship, breast cancer diagnostics, and drug-resistant tuberculosis. The additional funding expands the reach of the Hill Prizes and brings the program’s total research funding since 2024 to more than $12.5 million.
