Texas Voters Approve $3 Billion Fund to Establish the Dementia Prevention and Research Institute of Texas

On November 4 2025, Texas voters approved Dementia Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (DPRIT) via Proposition 14, a constitutional amendment authorizing the transfer of $3 billion from state surplus revenue into a new fund to support research on dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and related disorders. The legislation, led by Dan Patrick and sponsored through Senate Bill 5, aims to channel up to ~$300 million annually thereafter to attract top researchers, develop therapies, and build research infrastructure in Texas.
