Dr. Jane Wigginton, a medical scientist at the University of Texas at Dallas’ School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences, played a leading role in shaping the latest global standards for emergency cardiovascular care.

A board-certified physician in emergency and lifestyle medicine with more than 25 years of experience at Parkland Memorial Hospital, Dr. Wigginton is the lead author of the adult Advanced Life Support (ALS) manuscript for the 2025 American Heart Association (AHA) Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care, published October 22 in Circulation.

The comprehensive guidelines span a dozen sections, addressing interventions for cardiac arrest, arrhythmia management, pediatric resuscitation, toxicology, and training protocols for physicians, nurses, paramedics, and other emergency responders, setting the standard for lifesaving care worldwide.
